order to make available quality products
to Indian consumers, STCL facilitates import
of various essential commodities based on
demand and consumption rate. STCL functions
on back-to-back contract terms with the
ultimate buyers in India and plays an active
role in importing variety of commodities
such as Spices, Agricultural and Non-agricultural
Products from global source markets.
Some of the spices imported by STCL include,
Garlic, Cloves and Cassia. STCL imports
several agricultural products such as Pulses,
Dry Fruits and Edible oils. The commodities
imported include, Chickpeas, Green Gram,
Bengal Gram, Toor Dal, Black Matpe, Maize,
Cashew Kernel, Almond, Pista, Walnut, Vanaspathi,
Palmolein Oil, raw Sugar and Molasses. The
Non-agricultural products imported by STCL
are Polymers, Metal Scrap, PVC Resin, Fertilizers,
Petroleum Products, Coal and Timber & Teak
Wood.
The Company imported goods worth Rs.296.82
Crores during 2006-07 against the total
imports of Rs. 211.87 Crores during the
previous year. The goods imported include
Wheat valued Rs.111.90 Crores, Yellow Peas
valued Rs.6.93 Crores, Metal Scraps valued
Rs. 92.39 Crores, Palm Olein valued Rs.1.36
crores , Cloves. Valued Rs.2.04 Crores,
Cement clinker valued Rs.6.26 Crores, Copper
Cathode valued Rs.39.09 Crores, Coal valued
Rs 11.45 Crores, Low Ash Metallurgical coke
valued Rs.21.92 Crores, PCB Boards valued
Rs.1.31 Crores and other items valued Rs.2.17
