Description: Fennel, a member of
the parsley family, is one of the oldest
cultivated plants. It is grown in India
and Egypt and is one of the herbs used as
a flavoring agent in preparation of food.
The oval, green or yellowish-brown dried
seed has an aniseed like flavor, but is
more aromatic, sweeter and less pungent.
Uses: It is used as a anti-bacterial,
anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic to relieve
muscular spasms, cramps or convulsions.
It is also as a carminative for easing griping
pains, colic and expelling gas from the
intestines. It is also used as a diuretic.
