Description: Chilly is the dried fruit of annual herb. Chillies is grown in several parts of the world as a 'round-the-year crop'. In India the major producer States are Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa and Rajasthan. Andhra Pradesh contributes to around 53% of the total production while Karnataka contributes to around15%, Orissa 5%, Maharastra 5%, Rajasthan 4%, Tamil Nadu 3%, West Bengal 5% and Gujarat 1%. The export quantity in 2006 -2007 was 148,500 MTs.

Marketing Season: October to June

Uses: Chilli forms an indispensable culinary spice in several parts of the world. It is also used in beverages and in the preparation of medicines.
