Description: Cardamom is the seedpod of a perennial plant. Cardamom is grown mainly in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The production in Kerala is around 72.81%, while Karnataka contributes around 19.37% and Tamil Nadu 07.80%. The export quantity in 2006-2007 was 650 MTs.

Marketing Season: August to May

Uses: Cardamom is a precious ingredient in curries, as a flavoring agent in other foods, bakery products and beverages. It is a stimulant and carminative. It has also used as a digestive since ancient times. It is also used in the preparation of medicines, perfumes and cosmetics.
